Boiler Camera Arm

S.A.Robotics designed a two arm system to remotely clean and survey the interiors of boilers. The (Removable Boiler Blasting System) RBB utilizes one large arm in the main furnace area and a smaller arm in the reheat area. The RBB utilizes high pressure water blast system to remove build-up of soot from boiler surfaces thereby improving efficiencies and eliminating “clinkers” and can ultrasonically survey surface of pipes for thinning.

The survey results and positions are uploaded to a computer so weak points can be mapped and located later. The unit is fully collapsible so it can be quickly assembled and disassembled inside the boiler without any internal modifications to the boiler and can reach nearly anywhere inside boiler (approximate size of 40’x50’x180’).

The RBB was designed to be inserted very quickly into the boiler so it can be utilized during scheduled and non-scheduled shut-downs. The RBB can be used in temperatures up to 500°F so it does not require full cooling of boiler. During an outage the RBB can have a man-basket on the end of arm for manual access to boiler for repairs.

S.A.Robotics also developed an animation of the RBB cleaning service based on Xcel C-E Boiler located at Comanche Power Plant.
