Extreme Environment Remote Manipulators

S.A.Robotics developed an Extreme Environment/Temperature Remote Manipulators or Removable Boiler Blasting System (RBB) that can be readily adapted for operations in high temperature and extreme environments.

Features

• A two arm system designed to remotely clean and survey the interior of boilers
• Utilizes high pressure water blast system to remove build-up of soot from boiler surfaces thereby improving efficiencies and eliminating “clinkers”
• Can ultrasonically survey surface of pipes for thinning
• Survey results and positions are uploaded to a computer so that weak points can be mapped and located later
• Can reach nearly anywhere inside boiler (approximate size of 40’x50’x180’)
• Designed to be inserted during boiler operations of up to 2600°F
• Equipped with pneumatic, high pressure water, and electric outlets

Capabilities

• The main arm is capable of cleaning, surveying, and mapping all the walls of the main furnace
• The main arm is also able to clean, survey and map the secondary superheater tubes by inserting the arm up to 10ft between the tubes
• Lowering the secondary arm the tubes of the primary superheater to be clean, surveyed, and mapped

The RBB is easily stored above the boiler when not in use and is lifted from a horizontal position to a vertical position using a hydraulic base, mounted to the exterior of the boiler.
